Anybody else experience this sort of treatment from Nokia?

I have a hands free car kit (Microphone near the visor and speaker under the
dash) for a 3586i cell phone. This kit is wired into the cables behind the
dash and has a cradle mounted to the face of the dash adjacent to the radio.
This past week the cable from the electronics box behind the dash to the
cradle failed due to an open in the connector.

The car kit is about 14 months old. Nokia charges $100 to do repairs
(replace the cable without installing it in the car)

Now what do you think I'm about to do, buy a replacement cable for $100 or
get a $29 Sanyo or other phone.
