Author Cell phone dunked, still works, but---

I have an Audiovox 8900.

Could someone explain to me about the battery and/or "dunk" indicators that
you are speaking of?

When I remove the battery from the phone, there is a dot above the label on
the phone, does this tell anything?

On the battery itself, there is an indicator of some sort showing a red plus
or some sort of symbol that I cannot identify.

I ask these questions as this phone was dunked, but after it dried out has
worked fine for many months, but the battery seems not to hold a charge as
long as it used to.

TIA
