I keep getting a phone number on my land line with an accompanying
voicemail saying that the call isn't an advertisement but it is
important that I contact them. It says to call the number for info and
gives the extension x111. The phone number is 800-206-8662. When I call
the number - I use my cellphone instead of my land line - all I get is
a sound similar to the sound of payphone when you used to drop a dime
in it (no pun intended) before even dialing the extension, it hangs up
and then all my calls are forwarded to this number.
My carrier is Verizon Wireless and I've been on the phone with their
'support' staff. I keep getting stonewalled and lied to. Their
technicians tell me it's impossible for this to happen. But it's
happened repeatedly. The want me to turn off my call forwarding but I
need it when I'm out of the country. I know it sounds silly to keep
dialing this number - I can turn off the forwarded voicemail by dialing
the appropriate number. But why and who is doing this and why isn't
Verizon doing anything about it. Worst of all, is they keep lying about
the technology to do this.
Does anyone have any ideas on what's happening?
Thank you.
