3 network in UK - failed MMS

| I have a nokia 6680 on the 3 (3g) network in England.
Everytime I try and send a MMS the process is a little hit and miss, with
"undelivered" delivery reports coming back within seconds of the message
leaving my phone on some messages.
The phone takes it's time, 3g connection is available, phone uploads
message, appears in sent folder... then less than 60 seconds when I
manually read the delivery report it has failed.
Some numbers are more prone to fail than others, particularly UK vodafone.
Any suggestions anyone?
