Author Nokia 6200 FM radio hack?

The manual for my 6200 says that in order to use the FM radio in the phone
that I have to have the stereo headset.

I know that shorting specific pins on the pop port will activate the radio
menu.

Without the headset, can the music then be played through the speaker? Or the
standard ear bud? I know this won't be stereo, but if all I want is talk
radio...

Is there a better NG or an on-line forum to ask this question in?

Googling turned up no suggestions re. a radio hack.

Thanks,

The main reason for needing to plug-in your headset is for an antenna.
Without an antenna plugged in your FM radio is not going to receive much.

So another pin on the pop port is for antenna, I presume. One more thing to
find out...

The original question still stands: will audio route to speaker or earphone
if Radio mode is enabled?

Unable to answer your original question, sorry. The antenna connection
could possibly be one of the audio lines, but I don't know for sure.

I'd say that one of the audio lines doubles as the aerial.
If i plug my headphones into my NGage, the radio reception improves or
worsens depending upon the orientation of the headphones lead.

I've heard that you can take a 2.5mm stereo jack-plug and solder a (short)
piece of wire to act as an aerial to one of the terminals and hey presto...!
The jack-plug is detected and the radio operates and of course you get a
reception because of the make-do aerial.
That's a hack i guess was intended for NGage owners but the theory is the
same for your 6200.

Martin.

Probably correct, and from there I'd think you just choose loudspeaker mode
once the radio is on:)
