Camera and MP3 cell phones
|

| I have not ventured into the camera phones yet, Have a 5 MP digital camera
and know that the best camera phones are only around 1.3 MP. Still I have my
cell phone with me nearly all the time and not my digital camera, so there
may be a time when having the camera phone would come in handy. There is
something I would like to know about camera phones. What options do you have
with the pictures you take, Can you only view them on the phone and send
them to someone over the phone (provided you are paying extra for that
service) or can you also download the pictures say in jpeg to your computer?
Also the ones that play MP3. Can you put MP3 files on your phone from your
computer, or only download them to the phone if you have web access. The
Motorola V720 is the one I am looking at, but cannot find the answers to
these questions.
Thanks

Good phones allow downloading of jpg's via cable, infrared or bluetooth.
Dont buy others.
But because of the tiny lenses and picture taking chips these pictures
aren't comparable to the ones of "real" cameras.

Same here. Up- and download should be possible via say USB cable.
The V3 RAZR allows this via its Phone Tools Software.
The same seems to be the case with the V720, which I do not know.

| Nokia 6230i and 6230.
Able to up/download MP3's and images by either Cable Bluetooth, IrDa, or by
removing the memory card, and reading/writing through a card reader.
I too have a 6Mpixel SLR, and it's a right bugger in trying to get good
recption to make and receive calls...., but I don't have it with me all the
time, so I use my phone!

| UPDATE. I have since purchased The Motorola V720 as part of a contract
renewal. A while back the phone cost $199.95 with a 2 year contract. Now
they have dropped it to $169.95 and they have a $50. rebate, so I went with
it. So far I really like it and the performance is a little better than the
Kyocera Phantom I had. This one works better inside my work place. The
Kyocera would receive a call but crash when you try to talk.
Now that I have the phone I see it has a memory media card that you can
add. Forgot what it is called. T something. Anyway when you buy one of the
T? memory cards it comes with an SD media adapter which I already have a
reader for my Nikon Coolpix, so that solves how you can get the pictures
from the camera, if you don't pay for the extra service from your cellphone
provider that allows you to send pictures. Also there is a Motorola Phone
tools software and USB cable available as an option. I assume with that you
might be able to download the picture from the camera phone.. The camera is
only 1.2 MP so not so hot, but when you dont have your 5 mp camera handy and
just want a rough shot of something it is fine. The camera on the V720 has
lost of options like lighting, color, negative, sepia, black and white, also
3 different resoloutions .
