Author Different unlock codes for Nokia?
DaveC

2005-08-28, 5:48 pm

Never being one to rely on a single data set, I used an unlock .exe app
(Crus) and a web java app (trycktill.com) to generate unlock codes. These
generated different numbers. Codes are the same except for 2nd digit (see
below).

Should I care? Will both unlock the phone? Which should I use? Would several
people please add their results?

Phone: Nokia 6200 (plain 6200, no suffix letter)
IMEI: 351509004155268

Network: AT&T

You're signature is annoying in a major way. Is that your intention?

Relax.
I find your confusion of "you're" for "your" equally irritating, but I
wouldn't have mentioned it.....

They are different because the box serial used to calculate them is not
the same I would think.

I'd be tempted to try the Trycktill codes first, using code 7, and see
if that works.

Perhaps it is, but I don't repeat it in every frikkin' message I post
to the news group. Some people are professionals at being annoying I
only do it in my spare time.

Thanks.

I tried the #7 and #1 codes (recommended order) and neither worked. Finally
got help from the guy(s) at this forum:

Very free, very helpful, and very fast!

I agree.

Frankly, the reason for "Google it" replies is because virtually no one
bothers to Google it; virtually everyone comes to a place like this
expecting to be hand fed.

And we're tired of hand feeding.

If he has Googled the question, he's one in a million.

Maybe I'm missing the point here, but if you're not prepared to answer
someone's question, why respond at all..?

> And we're tired of hand feeding.

Then don't..!

Personally, it doesn't bother me whether someone has Googled or not, if I
can answer a question I will do so. If you don't want to, don't, I for one
won't hold it against you, but complaining that people ask here without
looking on Google first isn't going to stop them, any more than replying
to trolls is going to stop *them* from infesting the system.

To tell people that the answer they're looking for has been given many,
many times before--and to get them used to Googling for it.

But it won't make any difference, they will *still* ask here, so you're
wasting your time. If you don't want to answer their questions then don't,
but keeping on at them to use Google is pointless.

Like I said, I will answer a question if I know the answer, if I don't I
keep quiet.

Some people are lazy, others simply aren't aware that they're not asking
anything new.

If I can get even a few people used to the idea that their question has
been asked and answered many times before, and to Google for the answer,
that's a good thing.

So I'll tell them to Google for it.

Feel free, but you're still wasting your time. Me, I'd rather spend my
time productively, by answering the question if I know the answer.

I wasn't replying to the IP as I didn't know the answer. I was replying to
the insistent "Google for it" reply. Sorry if I didn't make that clear.

Over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and
over, and over, and over, and over, and over again.

THAT'S how to spend your time productively. Yes sir. You've sure told

I understand this philosophy and use it myself sometimes when it
involves subjects that are relatively elementary. However, one could
also argue that telling everyone to Google it will only hasten the
demise of Usenet. It's already a very niche outpost, so if everyone
Googles, there will be less use for it and fewer outlets for people
who don't publish a Web site or blog.

Sorry but I must disagree, how many times have you been on a newsgroup
to find people asking the same question as that which has been answered
in another thread the very same day.

This is a resource not a spoon feed device, users should either be
taught or be self motivated enough to learn how to use it. Next thing
you know they'll be wanting people to give up their time & resources to
visit them to deal with the problem, that's if they don't learn (or
can't be bothered)...
