Just wondering if there are any gadgets that allow a cellphone to be
connected to home phone wiring.

I'd like to drop my landline, but don't want to have to carry the phone
around all day.

Google "Cellsocket", and "Dock n Talk" for starters. They run in the
$100-200 US range.

Being a cheapskate, I grabbed an ancient model of Cellsocket make for
the old Nokia 51xx/61xx phones of six or seven years ago for $15 on
eBay, and dusted off my old Nokia 6190. When I want "dock" to a
landline I just move my SIM from my "real" phone to the old Nokia.
(Admittedly this would be a hassle for everyday use, but I bought the
Cellsocket for emergency/temporary backup use, rather than for
permanent landline replacement.)

Thanks!

I'm running a Samsung m500, so Cellsocket doesn't look like it will work for
me.

I'm really having a hard time coming up with good keywords to use in Google
and eBay for searches. Argh!

Try "cell phone" and dock; it produced lots of what appear to be
reasonable hits on Google.

Not sure I understand the desired application. How can you use a cell phone
with household copper?

We gave up our landline, but simply used an old cell phone and leave it in
one spot. And wouldn't wiring it somewhere kinda defeat the purpose?

With a "tellular" device that Connects your home telephones to the cellphone.
This way you can use your regular cordless/corded phones as "extentions"
of your cellphone.

Very useful if your cellphone reception is good in some spots and lousy in
others.

http://www.phonelabs.com/ makes the "Dock n Talk," one such device.

Not if it's connected to every handset in the house. The cellphone stays
in one spot, and you can use it "through" the cordless phones you have
laying around unused now.

I think you mean that the you want your cell phone to be the primary
source of phone audio in the house.

I think that you could successfully attach another transmitter-receiver
to the cell phone via its earpiece (and microphone) receptacle. But I
thnk that more than one would diminish the sound and talk level.

Furthermore, the first answering must be at the cell phone.

Otherwise, one needs to devise a distribution box. I think that if you
will wait a while, some Pacific Rim manufacturer will come up with such
a box.

Maybe Sharper Image. Maybe Radio Shack... Who Knows?
