New Icon on screen

Just bought a Nokia 2126 Tracfone for Father's Day, since I like mine
so much. Surprised how different it is.

One thing I can't figure out is an icon on the screen, it's a circle
with a mark at the top, bottom, left, and right, like a compass. This
icon is not mentioned in the manual. It's up at the top, next to the
"1X" icon.

What's this mean, and why isn't it on my phone?
