In my opinion, most any standard phone is going to give you
thumbs/fingers trouble if you're a frequent e-mail user. That's why
devices like the Blackberry and Treo are so popular -- they have more
normal-sized keyboards and generally don't cause the same levels of
fatigue.
You could also try turning on and using the predictive text feature.
I'm not familiar with the 5140 specifically, but AFAIK, all Nokia
phones support that feature. Once you get used to it, it will save you
some typing.
