International Texts on Virgin Pre-Pay

| I am able to receive texts from international numbers on my Virgin USA
PAYG phone but I can't figure out how to send them. I'm using the same
syntax for the phone number as I'm doing on my sister's sprint phone,
which does work, to no avail (e.g. 011445555555555). Does anyone know
how to send a text to an international number from a Virgin phone in
the US, if you can do so at all?

If Virgin allow it, you use + (plus sign, international access code for
international calls from no matter where), then country code, then number,
but drop any leading "0" (zero).

| Apparently you cannot send texts to non-US mobile numbers on the Virgin
USA network. When I called customer service, they suggested I instead
send an email to my overseas contact from my phone. Doesn't really
solve my problem but it's better than nothing I suppose.
Thanks!
