Motorola v710 as a modem, network /internet access

I know the phone is capable of acting like a modem and/or access a high
speed network. I've talked to one person who claims they have seen
such a thing in action. I am using the Mobile Phone Tools software.
The best I've done so far is either receiving a message about there
being "no answer", or when I try the packet network I get "invalid
username or password." The latter is not too surprising. The software
setups up a dial to #777 and uses my_phone_number@uscc
.net as a
username, but it has no suggestion for a password.

Any hints or clues would be gretly appreciated.
