Activating LG 4400 on Sprint Network

| Up until May of this past year my family and I used 3 LG 4400 on Verizon
Wireless. In May we all changed to LG 6100's. A good friend of ours is
currently a Sprint subscriber and recently broke her Samsung flip phone. She
is in the middle of a two year contract and is ineligible to upgrade to a
new phone. Sprint wants her to pay about a $100 and extend her contract for
another two years for a refurbished phone. She isn't willing to do this
because she is unhappy with Sprint and wants out at the end of her current
contract. I offered her the use of one of my unused LG 4400's to get her by
until then. I understand that Sprint service requires a CDMA dual band
trimode phone which is what the LG 4400 is. This evening she tried to have
Sprint activate this phone and the rep told her that he showed the ESN as
having a number associated with it, which is impossible since we activated
an LG 6100 in May to replace it. I called VZW and had them check the ESN and
was told it was unassigned. Shouldn't Sprint be able to activate this phone
for her?
Thanks,
Gary Holland

They could, but they won't. I don't believe Sprint will activate
phones not originally purchased from them.

They won't. They never have. They only activate ESNs of phones they
originally sold, or new phones out of their own inventory.
