Mike comments:
....... Anyway, I also bought an InPulse CDM8615
at Walmart, and activated it through Page Plus Cellular.
It is working, however I am not sure it is going to
work out for me. I hopefully will find out tomorrow.
First of all, you cannot activate your phone yourself.
You have to find a dealer who deals with PagePlus
Cellular to activate it for you. I called them and
asked why it wasn't allowing me to activate it by
phone and they said "No, you have to take it to a Page
Plus dealer to have them do it."
This proved to be somewhat of a challenge. I called
PagePlus to get a list of dealers. The first two I
called no longer dealt with them. The 3rd one wanted
$35 just to activate it for me! I told him to take a
hike. Finally, the 4th one agreed to activate it for
free.
So now I have it activated and it's working, and I got
an hour of free minutes somehow upon activation, and
then added the $10 card I'd already bought, so now I
have over 2 hours of minutes on it for $10. Not bad!
But here's the problem: I cannot seem to activate my
voice mail. When I call the number they say to dial
(#738) I always get a busy signal. I tried going on
their web site to send an inquiry to Tech Support, and
when I enter my PagePlus cell phone number there, it
says "the PagePlus number you entered is not valid".
They are not open today after 6pm so I have to wait
until tomorrow to call them. I'm not sure but I am
thinking maybe because it is an InPulse phone, it is
not going to work with PagePlus's voice mail
service...? Also, at the Walmart web site it
specifically says "This [Verizon] phone cannot be
activated with any other carrier". Well, I did
activate it, but I wonder if the voice mail is going
to work? I really need the voice mail so if I can't
get it to work I'll probably take it back.
So just thought you'd be interested in my PagePlus
adventure...
<snip>Thanks!
Mike
p.s. One more annoying thing about PagePlus (Verizon)
is that when you make a call, each time, before it
rings the number you dial, you have to first hear a
recording saying "You have x hours and x minutes of
time remaining". No BIG deal, but rather annoying. I
think I like Tracfone better, but then PagePlus
Cellular is cheaper.
