Author Reception Problem with Unlocked Phone?

Hi. Does anyone have any problems with good reception using an
unlocked phone?
I just recently purchased one and it doesn't work in lower levels or
basements where I've had no problem before with my locked phones. I
asked the company and they said that the reception on an unlocked phone
will NEVER be as good as those of locked phones. Is that true? Anyone
know? Thanks much!

Just so we're on the same page, when you say "locked or unlocked phone,"
what are *you* referring to?

It seems that you do.

And you believed them? Well, I guess it's true: there's one born every
minute.

If by "locked"/"unlocked" one means a phone that will work only on a given
company's network vs a phone that will work on any network that has the right
freq, I'd opine there's no diff.

I base that on having unlocked a three Nokias myself and having used them on the
same network both before and after...
