MMS setup for T-Mobile Samsung X495 (unlocked) on Cingular

Greetings all,

I am using an unlocked Samsung X495, ex T-Mobile, with my Cingular account
(in the USA). Telephony is working fine, but I'd like to make MMS work too.

I've found I can get to the MMS and WAP menus by keying in *#VSMMS# and
*#VSWAP# respectively.

The menus correspond closely to the X497 menus documented here:

and I've put in the values provided by Cingular (as far as I can tell).

But MMS still isn't working. The symptom is that when my phone receives an
MMS message, the "From:" information and title appear in the inbox, but the
message can't be downloaded. When I try to view the message I get "Cancel
retrieving new MMS?" and Yes or No are my choices.

What else should I check?
