| I have a brand new, unbranded unlocked Black Razr which I use with my
(former) ATTW SIM on the Cingular network.
I have obseerved the following negative symptoms and would appreciate
answers/suggestions:
1. Very poor battery performance -- both in stand-by and occasional voiced
usage mode. I have emptied and re-loaded the new battery 4-5 times. My V600
is MUCH better in this regard.
2. The roaming triangle is alway visible, even when he network is identified
as Cingular.
3. When I leave the Cingular area (into a roaming area, identified as
"roaming" or some other network, the phone drops the bluetooth connection to
my headset.
I'd appreciate any suggestions, explanations, and/or fixes.
Franz

There are actually still *two* networks: "blue" (old ATTWS) and "orange" (old
Cingular).

The V3 has a much smaller battery. That's part of the price you pay for the
super slim design.

You're probably homed on the less good network. With an "orange" SIM you
might well get better results, including longer battery life.

Sounds like a handset bug. More current firmware might help. Or an "orange"
SIM.

alt.cellular.motorola [cross-posted]

I have no choice there, I guess, as a former ATTWS customer with a very good
family plan, unwilling to switch to the new --soon to be revamped again?? -
Cingular.

Makes sense; I'll carry spare battery and car charger on trips.

See above. This is really only a minuscule irritation and I had wondered
whether the constant "roaming" was an additional drain on the battery.

I will try another bluetooth headset and see what happens,
This did not happen with the same headset on the V 600.

Thank you for the prompt and informative response -- I had not realized that
there was a alt.cellular.motorola group -- I will also look there.

Franz

It's weak signal that causes faster battery rundown.
