I tackled this issue a long time ago. I actually requested that Oxygen
prefix their software updates with COM: and they do that.
I also at one stage asked them to be more helpful with their replies to
posts rather than just spit out an advert when replying and they do that.
I also challenged them to the cost of their product. The asked what I
thought was a reasonable price, they then offered several discounted
subscriptions to the newsgroup. I then took up the offer.
I have made several feature requests, they have always replied and
implemented many of them and the ones they didn't they explained why it
could not be done or plan to do them at a later date.
Sure they might post commercial messages about updates to their
products, but I have encouraged them to actually provide contribute to
the newsgroup and I think they are improving in that respect. Also the
customer service they provide is excellent and that is why I support them.
They don't just grab your money and run like a real spammer would.
