Radio Shack has scanners. There are mods. Illegal in USA though unless
you're a democrat in Florida.

| Some of these tasks may be illegal. But you can solve *legal* tasks with
this equipment:
http://www.aplicom.com/products.html
Also Billionton ( http://www.billionton.com.tw/ ) is offering some GSM
modems.
We aren't anyhow affiliated with these companies.
PS: by the way, if you will ever need business or industrial SMS-based
solution, you can use even common phones with standard cable for this
purpose. We can also offer Oxygen Mobile ActiveX Control (
http://www.smsactivex.com/ )- using this development tool you can create
your own SMS-based applications in Visual Basic, Borland Delphi, Borland C++
Builder and other environments.

Do you have something that can decode what the receiver gets in those
ranges? If so care to share?
I think a standard receiver will just hear "noise" although there will
be a signal visible if you have a spectrum analyzer. I'm not an expert
but I think you need something that can do TDMA. Also, even if you could
get it down to the TDMA portion your first obsticle is going to be the
encryption. Albeit theoretically proven in many articles to be possible
to break.
Post back if you have something you want to share or working on for
purely education reasons, I'm interested.
