I purchased a WorldSIM, from Experimentalist, in May of 2007 and used it
successfully in England and France in July of 2007. Tried to use it in the
USA, to keep the number active, in November and could not find service.
Went to www.worldsim.com website and found messages, dated October, 2007,
they were looking for a new service provider and apologized for the
inconvenience. Tried again last week, January 2008, and still...no service.
Back to their website and saw the same messages. I had a credit balance on
my account for automatic top-ups. E-mailed info@worldSIM.com on February
6, 2008, inquiring as to when they would have their service restored and
have not received a reply.

Does anyone else in the group use WorldSIM? Are you having any problems
with their SIM?

Thank you for any information.

This is a common situation with companies that use IOM-based SIMs.
Frankly I'd write off the loss and look elsewhere.

http://www.prepaidgsm.net forums are a good starting point.

Thanks for the info. and if I contact them I'll mention your name.

Runningwithbulls reminds me of a joke about two bulls; father and son.

Standing on a hill, overlooking a meadow full of cows, was two bulls, a
father and son. Son says to father, "Hey old man, let's run down there and
do one of those cows." Father lowered his head and got another mouthful of
luscious green grass, chewed it slowly while contemplating his answer,
swallowed, and said "Son, let's walk down there and do 'em all."

The moral of the story, when you're an old bull you have to pace yourself.

Thanks again for the info.

Cheers.

Yes. the IOM sims have been out of business since Sept 07. I had one
myself and have since written my credit off as a loss. There are
several threads on it at the forum listed above. It also looks like
some of them are beginning to work again. Check out the forum for more
info.

I have other sim cards that I use, one of which happens to be maxroam
mentioned above.
