| Hi,
I own a Vaio PCG-Z1VA laptop and have been trying to get rid of the MS
Bluetooth stack, replacing it with Widcomms...version 1.4. I have
folowed everyones advice, disabled Bluespace NE, disabled the MS
Bluetooth drivers, changed Bth.inf...restart and installed. All I get
is the damn blue and red icon and none of the unsigned drivers when I
try to update the generic Sony driver in Device Manager. My Bluetooth
places and everywhere else says "device not found"...or "Bluetooth
device not found". I am not using a dongle since the Vaio came
equipped with Bluetooth already.
Please help...help...help

| What problems have you had with the Microsoft Bluetooth stack?
Installing Widcomm is complicated, if it did not come with your BT device,
with a license, etc. That is something negative about WC, while the MS
driver works with any BT dongle or device, and seems pretty reliable to me.
Of course, if you want to use a BT headset with the computer, then it might
be necessary to install Widcomm. I don't understand why, but it seems like
Microsoft left off that important capability from its BT stack. (Correct me
if I'm wrong about that.)
If not, and BT was working for you before with the MS stack, why bother with
the hassles of trying to install WC? As they say, "if it ain't broke......."
