Hi

I have an ISSC Bluetooth USB Dongle, which I have working well on my
HOME PC and Laptop.

However I am trying to install it on to my Work PC and Laptop. Both are
XP Pro SP2.
I'm using the same driver .inf that I used on my home machines.

The dongle is detected and installed OK.
I can pair a mobile (6230i) to the PC or Laptop, but I get no services
shown. No com ports nothing..

On my home machines there are several services, DUN, Com, SPP..

Yet on my work machines NOTHING...

WHY !!

Any idea how to fix this..

Thanks

What OS are the ones that are working?

Win XP-SP2 really likes to install its own driver, even if you have
installed another vendor's software before you plug in the hardware.

There are a few workarounds. One is to disable the WinXP driver before
installing your driver. The other is to delete the MS devices after
installing your device.

"Cannot install a Bluetooth device after you install Windows XP Service
Pack 2"

For my DLink DBT-120, I loaded the drivers from the CDROM, and then had to
make some adjustments to get the automatically-installed WinXP-SP2 out of
the way. http://support.dlink.com/faq/view.asp?prod_id=2146
The steps here are generic enough that they might apply regardless of which
dongle you have.

Thanks. I have tried that.

What I have is an amended version of the Microsoft 'bth.inf' that has
had support for the ISSC Bluetooth dongle added.

When windows found the dongle, I pointed it to the inf, it is detected
and installed OK.
I end up with an ISSC Bluetooth Adapter and Microsoft Bluetooth
Enumerator.

I can pair a phone (nokia 6230i) with out a problem, but when I look at
the supported services I get nothing.

On my own PC, I get the option of DUN, COM or SPP.

At the office nothing...!

How do I get support for Com and SPP ??

Thanks

Have you looked at, turned off, modified the settings of the firewall?

Have you verified that the bth.inf is still the correct[ed] one?
Perhaps the office machines were configured to "always allow" the
connection to the internet to look for updated drivers.

You could remove and reinstall while you are unplugged from the network.

I would be happier pointing to a different .inf file.

That does sound like the installation was okay.
Did you try the DLink advice, looking for hidden devices?
If you look at the ISSC device properties, does it show the same Provider
and Version as the one installed on your working system?

Hi

Yep it's the same driver and version..

I've also tried checking the firewall and turning it off.
The office PC's are not configured to access the internet for driver
updates..

Thanks - Any other ideas ??

I dont have any answers, this just seemed like a good place to ask my
question too!
I have just got a Nokia 6255i w/Btooth tech. I installed the Nokia PC
Suite. At present I am using a Microsoft MN500 and I have several
computers hooked up to this router. I guess I was under the impression
that Bluetooth, being a radio signal would "look" for my Baseststion. Is
this a possibility? I also have a Laptop Inspiron, does it have an
infrared light on it? I never noticed.
What would be the best way for me to hook up to my desktop.
(1) Get a USB with one of those phone connector things on the other end
(2) Get a USB dongle that has bluetooth(SOme have antennas)(Will I need
a special card in my computer?)
(3)Bark at the moon.
I have seen one of these ..USB 2.0 Bluetooth Adapter with Bluesoil
Software (Up to 330 Feet)..pretty cheap. Will this work? Will I need
anything else? WOuld the wired connection be better?

Thanks in advance
