I'm sure lots of you have taken advantage of the theft/loss insurance
provided by the ProductGuard Plus insurance policy. But what kind of
experience do you have with making a claim on the
mechanical/electrical malfunction clause that only requires a $15
deductable?

My local AllTel dealer says there is no such provision. My
sis-in-law, who was a dealer for many years, also is not aware of this
provision. Yet it is described on the Net from a link provided by
AllTel. As I recall the wording starts out with something like
All-hazards insurance. I pay the $5 a month for the policy.

Alltel replaced my V710 with a E815 for only $15.00 due to a malfunction

Just as a follow-up, Asurion did indeed honor the $15 deductable for a
malfunctioning phone. They said if there was any indication that the
phone had been submersed or accidental damage, then the retail alltel
store could change the ductable to $50.

Actually, I don't think the Alltel employee cared since I had a claim
number to get my new phone.

They DO, however, get all excited, for some reason, when you sit it on
their desks and ask them if dropping it in the loaded toilet is covered....
