treo 650 with cingular

| It looks like a good phone but I hear people who love it and people
who hate it. My contract is up with tmobile and I'm debating upgrading
to the blackberry 7105t . The salesman is pushing the treo and my
brother got a verizon treo and loves it but I understand that the
verizon treo has less issues than the cingular treo. The rollover
minutes for my work would be really useful.

You might try to take a look at the Nokia 9300, the phone I've been
waiting for. It's been out in Europe for some time now and is supposed
to be available through Cingular in the U.S. starting sometime next
month. It's hinged along the long side, like a mini-laptop, which gives
you a more nearly usable keyboard and screen than the Palm form factor,
at least in my opinion. It reminds me a good deal of the old Psions,
which were my favorite PDA's for many years.

If all of the service providers have equipment you want, decide on the
provider FIRST, then the hardware.
As for Treo vs Blackberry, which one has the features YOU want? Mind,
I really like my Treo 650... The Verizon Treo probably has fewer
issues than the original release of the Cingular Treo because VZW got
it later, after some post-release issues were found, so they got a
newer firmware from the get-go. Cingular Treos have an updated
firmware available, and they should be distributing units with the
newer software out of the box by now.

A friend of mine uses a 9300 (he works for Nokia). It's a brick. He'd
rather have a Treo, but he works for the company that makes it, and got
it for free.

Is it possible that your friend has a 9500? It's quite a lot larger.

Possible, I always have a hard time remembering Nokia model numbers.
But the description provided is the same: Hinged on the long edge,
folds up like an old Psion with a QWERTY keyboard on one half and a
display on the other.

I remember those old psions I'd rather not have something so big.

| Actually I've seen it and it IS a brick, however it has a gorgious screen
and may be worth it is you don't mind the Blackberry system however.

big for a cell phone but I think about average for a PDA, so if you
routinely carry a PDA, as I do, you are effectively getting a cell phone

| When you call it a brick, are you comparing it to a small cellphone or
to a PDA? It combines the functions of both. If all you want is a
cellphone, you can surely find somethng smaller, but if you what you
want is a combination PDA cell phone, I'm not sure you can.
Comparing it to the Treo, which is what the original query was about :
Treo Size/Weight: 11.3x5.9x2.3 cm (178 g)
Nokia 9300: 13.2x5.1x2.1 cm (167 g)
So the Nokia is a little lighter than the Treo, a little narrower and
thinner, but a little longer.

All of that applies to both. The 9500 also supports WiFi, has a camera,
is substantially bigger and heavier.
The 9300 is a little lighter than the Treo, a littler smaller in two
dimensions and a little longer in one.
