move treo 600 from at&t to cingular

| Hi all,
I am a current AT&T customer with a treo 600 on the AT&T network. I am
attempting to roll my plan to Cingular (same company, right?), and they
are telling me I need to purchase a NEW TREO in order to work with the
Cingular SIM.
Is this absolute truth? There has to be another solution to this!

That sounds about right. We're Cingular Blue and decided to keep our
existing plan as long as we can. There's no compelling reason for us to
get a Cingular plan because there's nothing that Cingular offers that
even comes close to what we have with our old AT&T plan. If you can,
unlock your phone. I bought a new Motorola v635 because I needed
quad-band for travel and I like the features. It works just fine with
Cingular Blue card and I'm sure will work fine if and when we are
forced to give up our old AT&T plan.

If you REALLY have to move over to orange and can't stay with blue, then
you'll just
need to have your phone unlocked so it will work with the cingular SIM. I
don't
know much about unlocking Treos, so do some googling. You may be able to do
it yourself, or you might have to send it out and pay someone $25 or so.

If the Treo is a GSM one then goto www.mytreo.net search for the
unlocking thread and ask for the unlocked firmware fix.
