Author Moto v551(?) flicker-no answer

I upgraded my decrepit cell to a v551, I think, a few months ago and
now it has developed a problem. Sometimes when I go to open it or
answer it, the screen flickers and it doesn't answer the call. It
doesn't shut off, just flickers and doesn't work.

Anyone else have this problem? Is there a solution other than a new
one, as I'm sure any warranty has expired shortly after this all
started.

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like a hardware problem.

The warranty is a full year, so "a few months" probably means it's still under
warranty.

There was some issue with some recent v557 dropping the call instead of
answering it when the flip was opened. I thought that affected only a very
narrow production date run, and only the v557, but ...

What I see online is a prodcution date in Dec of 2004, but I can't find the
news article about it.

Aren't you thinking of the recent V3 recall?

Right. That would explain why I couldn't find it under v557. ;-)
