Author Tethered Wap and Minutes

Does tethering a laptop on the WAP.CINGULAR service (dialing *99#) eat
up voice minutes? I've tethered a few times, but I'm not seeing any
minutes being used.

No minutes are used. The charge is by amount of data transferred, and
is pretty steep if you don't have a data package.
