Is there anyone who can explain some columns on a report we get from
Cingular? Specifically,
Serving SID, LAC, Home SID and CELL. I know that LAC stands for
Location Area Code and may stand for a tower or group of towers in a
specific area. Is there a list of LAC, CELLID's and addresses that is
available.

The reason I'm asking is we're trying to find our 15 year old daughter
who is a runaway. We live in Florida and the laws are so strange here.
In Florida a minor child running away from home is not against the law
and so if your child runs away, the police will do very little to help
you find them. Since it isn't a crime you can't get information put on
local news media unless you can afford to buy ad space. Since it isn't
a crime you can't get a search warrant and without that you can't get
detailed records from the phone companies even though the phone is in
our name and we pay the bill.

She's been missing 3 weeks now and we are frantic. Please help.

Sincerely,

Andrew Camfield

I suggest you hire a qualified private investigator in the area where
she's located. Trying to do this on your own will almost certainly not
be as effective.

John,

Thanks for both your suggestions. We've spoken to several PIs both in
state and out of state. A couple of them have agreed to work on our
case pro bono, but they say they are even more hamstrung by the weird
laws here in Florida than the local police are.

The link to the list is very close to what I'm looking for. I've got a
website that shows all the towers in a city or county as icons on a
Goggle map but I have to click on each one and try to figure out if its
one on the Cingular report. Very time consuming and confusing.

Thanks again,

Andrew Camfield

Update!!!!

After 3 weeks my daughter was found trying to check into a motel about
5 miles from our home. Luckily, I had been there the night before
passing out flyers and the desk clerk recongnized her and called the
police after they went to the room. The two boys that were driving her
around are in jail and my daughter has been taken to an assessment
center to be evaluated.

Thanks for your help.

Sincerely,

Andrew Camfield
