Cingular & Blackberry
|
|

| I have a Cingular Blackberry and I know support is very limited here. I
can't seem to find a newsgroup for Blackberry questions as there are with
both Palm & Windows Mobile. Does anyone know of a public internet newsgroup
(other than stuff like Yahoo Groups) that discuss Blackberries?
Thanks... Fred

Unfortunately, as time does on, there has been an extremely disturbing
trend for newsgroups to become less popular or not increase in
popularity compared to web-based discussion forums.
It seems that the audience there is much larger, although the overall
quality of participant is much lower than in USENET. And that is what
"they" want -- quantity over quality. And the reason "they" want it
is that way is $$$.
This aforementioned trend is IMHO directly related to the secondary
goals of "dumbing down" the Internet and attempting to use the WWW
browser for everything.

That being said, I know of no blackberry specific newsgroup, however,
you can try:

It's actually more a matter of less nastiness, flaming and general crap.
It's also easier to find and access.

I think it's more a matter of people getting sick and tired of all the
crap.

Not sure which you are saying is your preference here, USENET or
web-based forums.

Crap is having to register and remember username/passwords for each
different forum, putting up with moderator dictatorships/oligarchies,
and being peppered with advertisements on these web-based forums. Some
of these forums require you to register EVEN IF ALL YOU WANT TO DO IS
READ THEM WITHOUT POSTING!
I'd bet 90% of the Internet users hasn't a clue about USENET.

My personal preference is still Usenet, but I appreciate why it turns so
many off.

I think that's a good bet.
