| Go to Device Manager and delete the phone from wherever you find it.
Look under Modems, USB and Ports. Reboot, load the drivers and THEN plug
in the phone. The best program for getting your phone recognized is
P2KCommander. Once it sees you everything else will follow. It will
place a Connection Manager icon in the SysTray and manage the phone
connection.

| Bruce:
I have been working on this for hours - like 5-6. I can not get P2kman to
recognize the phone. Windows Explorer and Mobile Tools both see and work
with the phone.
I have tried repeatedly to reinstall this and that , deleting the entries in
the device table, etc. I even tried renaming the p2kman driver to tryto get
it installed.
In any case, is there another application other than p2kman that will have
the samefunctions as p2kman?
Thank.

Like Bruce said in the post above, get P2K Commander and install it, should
take care of the problem.

| Bob, Here's the link to d/l P2kCommander. As I mentioned earlier, this
should solve your problem. Oce installed you can run any P2k program
easily.

| Hi:
Thanks. Downloaded ok, unzipped into its own folder. Does this actually
need to be installed? Using setup or control panel? I can not find
setup.exe and control panel will not install it - no setup file.
I run p2kcommander and it sees the phone. Now, the phone has a memory card
and that is all that it sees. G:/ How do I see a:/ ?
Thanks for the help. Every time I try to access the net with the phone it
wants permission. I'm going to patch this so I always have access.

| Hi:
Thank you everyone for the help. I've got to tell ya...I'm a very
technical person. Very. But...
P2K Commander was not "installed". I unzipped it and then just executed the
..exe. I can not find a way to "install" it as I think it should be
installed.
Therefore, the drivers have not been installed into windows, per se. So,
when I run the daemon and connect the phone it does not start P2K Commander
immediately as it should. Also, P2K Commander can not see the phone memory
but only the 512meg memory card. So, I can see G: and all files (the memory
card) but not the a/. When I switch it in the OPTIONS menu nothing happens.
I believe this is because the driver that came with P2K Commander has not
been installed.
Any suggestions? Totally baffled.
Bob

| another note:
With no apps running, I connect the phone. I get the tone. When I check
device manager I see that Windows has created USB Mass Storage Device in
Universal Serial Bus Controllers. Windows explorer sees the memory card but
not the phone memory. Disconnect the phone and the entry in device manager
goes away.
So, I tried "updating" the driver in device manager. The error I get when I
point to the driver directory of p2k commander is "The specified location
does not contain informayion about your hardware."
Any ideas? Honestly, thanks for the help so far. We will get this. BTW,
I have a slvr l7.

| The program doesn't "install" like a regular WIN program. It just runs
as an exe. Here's how to install the dirvers manually: First remove all
instances of the phone from Device Manager. Reboot. Run Plug in the
phone. When WIN detects the phone do NOT let it load the driver itself.
Instead, choose the location manually and po it it to the P2kDrivers 2.9
folder in whatever place you have the whole unzipped package. There are
5 or 6 drivers that will load this way each requiring the manual
selection.

| Hi:
Ok...tried everything suggested.
In device manager I have USB Mass Storage Device. I have tried deleting
this and reinstalling manually. P2K commander does not see the phone.
Actually, it sees the card memory but not the phone memory.
When I try to specify the driver I get a message from windows that the info
in the .inf does not match my hardware.
At wits end. All this to set the bits so when a Java app goes to the net
the phone does not ask "Use Data Network?". Sheesh. SLVR L7
Bob
If I reboot and then connect the phone windows automatically installs a
microsoft driver.

| Hi:
On my SLVR L7 I changed USB cable option to "data/modem". When I connect
the phone the P2Kcommander daemon detects the phone, displays a message "in
AT Mode" and starts P2Kcommander.
BUT, within 5 seconds the daemon displays "AT device disconnected".
Any ideas? Something in the phone?

| OK...I'm onto something.
I changed the daemon to NOT autostart P2Commander. Now, when I connect the
phone the tray icon turns blue and the message states that "connected as AT
device".
When I start P2commander and click on the drop down box to select p2k nobile
phone, the daemon says not connected as AT anymore.
Any ideas? I tried all options in p2kcommander.
