When will Cingular Stop the False Advertising?
|
|
| Mij Adyaw 2006-07-31, 10:33 pm |
| Cingular is still showing the TV commercial regarding having the lowest
dropped call rate. Cingular does not disclose the source of the survey in
the TV commercial and is currently being sued over this by Sprint. (At lease
Verizon discloses that their surveys are from JD Power) When will Cingular
stop showing this false advertising? It is very misleading...

Verizon actually bases its ads on its own internal "surveys", the least
credible source: "America's most reliable network claim based on
results of OUR reliability studies & network advantages." [emphasis

How do you know it to be false and misleading? Have you filed a
complaint with the FTC?

Yawn.

|
| That claim has actually been uphelp in a lawsuit brought by Sprint.

| Really? Anything to back that up?
Sprint originally went to the National Advertising Division of the
Better Business Bureau.
Cingular then sued Sprint, asking for declaratory relief.
Sprint filed a counterclaim.
A Consent Order allowing time for settlement talks is the last reported
development I can find.

Send a complaint to your state senator and state PSC (Public Service
Commission). Across your fingers that thousands of others did to.
Of course, depending on the color of your state, directly correlates to what
happens next. :-)

I thought that I read that they were trying to work this out without
going to court. Basically what the proposed deal is, is that Cingular
must stop lying about Sprint, and Sprint must stop telling the truth
about Cingular.

| I'll see if I can find it for you John. It was actually in one of the trade
journals. Hopefully I haven't thrown it out yet.

There sure is a lot of dislike for Cingular in their group, but the
sad fact is that where I am They have *the* best coverage of all the
carriers. So if I want service in the middle of nowhere I'm stuck.

Who cares, like Version advertises truth! They did stop the adds showing the
guy "testing" in elevators, and the women's restroom. Now if they would dump
the 'in the country' 'you get service out here' ad, because I live in the
country, and service I very poor... but they keep telling me they don't
provide service everywhere, and I tell no but you keep advertising it on TV
though.

| John,
I seem to have thrown it out already but it was one of those trade magazines
that I am sure you are familiar with, possibly RCR.
