I have a Cingular 8125 that I like a lot. My fiancee is interested in
the same phone but wants to be able to use the future UMTS and higher
speed data and as well will be tethering that to a laptop. It seems
that this is the perfect solution.
Are there any other phones she should look at instead? She doens't
need a full PocketPC but it's important to her to be able to sync
tasks, calendar, and contacts with her PC. As well, what is pricing
expected to be if it comes out for Cingular?
Of course I am interested in alternatives as well if it's another
PocketPC phone or smartphone but I want to stay away from a Blackberry
and Treo. Thanks for any help.

Sounds like a great phone. I see it has HSDPA. I know there is also
UMTS. Does HSDPA include UMTS? I hope that makes sense but just
didn't see UMTS listed.

HSDPA is backward compatible with UMTS -- think of it as upgraded UMTS.

HSDPA (HS for short) is an evolution of 3G. People call it 3.5G or 3G+.
Any HS handset or data card you buy will be standard 3G compatible and
will work on a max of 384 kbps downlink. Depending on you coverage area
you will be able to recieve HS speeds (dropping to std 3G when not
available or congested). Just now VF are the only operator to offer it
in the Uk but it is only launched for Enterprise primarily and only
London and a other major cities are covered. Eventually VF's HS
coverage will be identical to current std 3G coverage.

If you want more info let me know..........

Just realised you may not be interested in UK HSDPA but I can answer
any other technical questions regarding HS if you have any :)
