Internet incredibly slow
|
|
| Hell and High Water 2006-09-11, 12:33 pm |
| I have a Cingular 8125, running Windows Mobile Version 5.0 (OS 5.1.70
Build 14410.1.1.3
My connections show that I'm connecting to Cingular GPRS. wap.cingular
'Programs that automatically connect to the Internet should connect
using: MEdia Net'
CHAP Authentication
I have 'This network uses a proxy server to connect to the Internet' UN
CHECKED
Problem: My Internet connection has become so slow it's virtually
unusable.
When I' click on a link the following takes place:
1. 'Connecting' - Takes about 5-7 seconds
2. 'Locating' - Takes from 30-45 seconds
3. 'Opening' - Takes from 30-45 seconds
Sometimes even longer for all three...
It doesn't seem to matter what page I'm going to, as it's about the same
times everywhere.
Any suggestions?
TIA,
-Bob

I was having the same trouble and after the third data tech support it
was fixed. The first 2 stated "I will put in a trouble ticket and we
will contact you in 3 days." LOL I have found that it takes several
call to get someone who know how to fix problems

You have guts, calling tech support. (I, on the other hand have
NUMEROUS FAILED attempts to work with Cingular tech support....)
I did post this in another newsgroup, and was told to change the DNS
servers:
DNS as '217.115.138.24', Alt DNS as '83.217.93.246'.
Worked like a charm!
MUCH FASTER!!!

| How did they correct the problem? Did they tell you to do something on
the device? If so, please share. I was thinking this is just the way it
is....
