My wife has an AT&T cell phone that is near its last breath, as well
as a Palm Z22 that she syncs up to the Palm Desktop application on
Windows 2000 and XP desktops. I would like to buy her an iPhone that
will serve both as a replacement cell phone and PDA, but she has
hundreds of contacts and calendar entries in her Palm Desktop, and we
do not have a Mac, nor do we run Outlook. Is there a staightforward
way to migrate her Address book, Date Book, ToDo List, etc. to the
iPhone, or are we looking at a kludge - or worse, a dealbreaker.

Yes. I had all my contacts on Palm Desktop before I went to an iPhone.
There are several ways to transfer all this.
