|

| Hello,
I am trying to connect my Cingular RAZR V3 phone with Motorola Phone
Tools
running on my Laptop PC (Windows 2000) via a bluetooth dongle
connection.
I have a Connect3D USB bluetooth dongle.
I am able to communicate between the RAZR and the PC using the
"BlueSoleil"
software that came with the bluetooth dongle.
I am also able to communicate between the RAZR and the PC using the
Motorola Phone Tools software using a USB cable.
But I am not able to get the Motorola Phone Tools find the Cingular
RAZR
using the bluetooth dongle.
Any help would be much appreciated.

My experience is that BlueSoleil software sucks. I suggest getting a
different dongle with Widcomm software.

Hmm... That's kind of like saying, "I can't connect to the Internet though
my phone line using my cable modem. Why not?" Because that's not what it
was made to do.
Bluetooth allows you to wirelessly connect your PC to your phone to transfer
files using the OBEX file transfer software that came with your dongle.
MPT allows you to connect you PC to your phone through USB cable and
transfer files etc. using the MPT software.
If there's a feature of the Phone Tools software you want to use, other than
file sharing, you'll need to connect with the cable. It's faster than
bluetooth anyway.

| The version of MPT that I have (4.3.6c) has the option to connect to
the phone
using either the USB cable or a bluetooth connection.
I was hoping that I would be able to use the bluetooth dongle that I
have, to
connect the PC to Phone.
The only reason for doing so would be "convenience". It is easier to
use bluetooth
than to carry and connect a cable everytime you need to connect the
two.

The info at the link below might help.
I found the link and others by Google searching "how to Cingular RAZR
connect to MPT via bluetooth"

I think that Blue Soleil does not work with MPT.
You might want to try the Widcom drivers, as noted at
http://brobin111.blogspot.com/2005/...-work-with.html
The few Bluetooth dongles I have purchased all came with Widcom drivers.
Just for MPT, it might be possible to use the Microsoft Bluetooth stack.

I stand corrected.
My apologies. MPT 4.3.6 can indeed connect to your phone using bluetooth.
It was agonizingly slow, but it did work.
Bluetooth Dongle used: Zonet Model ZUB6211C
Start Phone Tools. If the "cannot communicate" window pops up, click on
Rededect. Then you should get the Phone Setup Wizard. Choose Bluetooth and
follow the instructions from there. If it doesn't work with your BT
dongle/software combo.............
