How to put YouTube videos on your Blackberry Pearl for free.....
|
|
|
| There is a program you can buy to do this, but here's a method that
works with all free software.
Here's what you need for Windows:
- The free Firefox web browser
http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/
- The free Greasemonkey Firefox plug-in and the YouTube grabber script
(to enable YouTube video downloading)
http://www.lifehack.org/articles/li...key-script.html
- Download the free SUPER (C) video converter (to convert the FLV file
generated by Greasemonkey to MP4)
http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html
If you can figure out how to get the SUPER converted video file to run
on your phone post what settings you used.... If you can't, you can
use the free Blackberry Video Converter to convert the MP4 generated
by SUPER into a Blackberry Pearl compatible .AVI
You can get the Blackberry Video Converter here.

This doesn't require any data plan time. All of this is accomplished
on your Windows PC and the resulting file is transfered to the Pearl
using the data cable.

So why would you want to do this?

Many people probably won't use the video/media player that's built
into the Blackberry Pearl, but if you do want to take video with you,
you'll most anything you could want up on YouTube. From media trailers
to current event "headline" broadcast. There are also a good number of
instructional videos up on YouTube. It's sort of a fountain for video
and these steps provide a way to take those videos with you....

YouTube (FLV) video can be converted online to other formats at
<http://vixy.net/>. Transcoding to MPEG-4 ASP (various profiles) is
free and very good
