any Qualcomm chip problem with GSM phones?

| Is there any Qualcomm chip problem with GSM phones?
I am thinking to buy pre-paid GSM cell phone from either T-Mobile or
Cingular Go-Phone? Are any of these uses Qualcomm chip and will have future
compatibility problems?
By the way, are these GSM phone easy to un-lock? Thank you.

If the phone you are wishing to buy is currently compatible with your
network then there is no reason to suspect it won't work in the future.
If you are concerned about Qualcomm then have a look at Nokia phones,
they have their own chips.
Some GSM phones are easy to unlock and other's aren't.
