Do I need a new SIM ?

| About eighteen months ago, I started getting letters from Cingular =
warning me of all kinds of dire consequences if I did not go to a =
Cingular store (not an agent) and get a new SIM.
I went to the Cingular store (40 miles round trip) and was assured I did =
not need a new SIM. I kept getting the letters so the next time I was =
near a different Cingular store, I asked them (about 12 months ago). =
They said the SIM was fine.
Now I am getting recorded msgs from Cingular saying I may find myself =
without service if I do not get a new SIM.
Can anyone tell me what is going on?
Thanks

Yeap, me too..
Sounds like the left hand ain't tellin the right hand what's going on.
Cingular wants you to swap your old 32K SIM for the new 3G, 64K SIM chip.
The new chip will home your phone away from T-mobile to Cingular. My
co-worker did that and is kicking himself in the XXX all the time. His
signal is now 'down in the mud' most times, expecially at work. Cingular is
still working on building out their infrastructure and until they complete
it, coverage may suck sometimes.
I carry a 64K SIM chip with me just in case they get ugly and my phone off.
My wife is doing the same. But until then, "From my cold blue dead
fingers". That is the only way Cingular will get my old chip.

Well, when I took my phone to the Cingular store, they told me that the =
SIM in my phone is already 64K (although there was no mention of 3G - =
and I do not know what that is). =20
Another puzzler - my wife has the same SIM in her phone and she has not =
heard word one from Cingular (installed the same day as a matter of =
fact).
Anyway, thanks for the reply.
