Buddy at work went through hell on an identity theft. Someone got a cell
phone on his account. They ran up a $10K phone bill along with someone else
who was in another state using the same number.
He got the bills and argued it wasn't him. They didn't care, they wanted
their money. Cops wouldn't get involved as it was civil case (if it was
acop's phone I'm sure they would have!).
They turned him into collection and he went through hell with them as well.
Somehow, it got it expunged, but it took almost one year with the help of a
lawyer. He was out a few thousand just for the privledge of getting it off
his back.

He should have gone public one day one. No cellular company likes the
bad publicity.
