Author Prepaid Plan - Voicemail Question

I am on the prepaid plan and have a Motorola RAZR - unlocked and not
purchased from Cingular. The "Message Centre" menu shows that I have 3
Voicemails. When I go to the Voicemail menu there is a "Send/Receive Mail"
item but when I "Select" it and then tell it to connect to the server I get
a message saying "Cannot connect. Setup incomplete". The only instructions
I can find for setting up voicemail say to press and hold 1. But when I do
that I get a message saying "Speed No. 1 empty".

But voicemail is not completely broken. If I have a NEW voicemail waiting
it tells me and I can select "Call" and then it will connect and play the
message for me.

I think I might know how to get a phone number into speed no. 1 but I have
no idea what number to store there. At one time I was able to find a
Cingular help line telephone number, but now there is no such number that I
can find on the Prepaid site.

Thanks, Bob

I haven't been a cingular customer for years but have you
tried dialing your phone number from the phone itself? that is what
cingular (and many others) do for you. when you press 1. On a nokia
phone you can define 1 by going to messages menu on the phone select
voice messages and there is an option to add the voice mail dialing
number there. Being I am just getting back into GSM and am setting up
an old unlocked cingular Nokia 6340i for T-mobile to-go prepaid I will
be doing the same setup myself.
