Can anyone tell me what he coverage is like in or near Andover, OH? I took a
friend out on Friday and funny enough he has no Nextel coverage in that
area. But all of Verizon's coverage maps show good digital coverage in that
area, if anyone has info please pass it on.

Verizon and Nextel coverages are completely independent of each other
because they use different technologies. Try asking in a Nextel
newsgroup or putting the zip code in Nextel's web site.

I understand that they are different, I've sold both in the past. I was out
there on Friday and my Nextel did not work, so I'm inquiring as to the true
coverage of the Verizon network in that area.

thnx

Verizon/Northeast Ohio is the former AirTouch cellular network and in
general, the network was pretty solid when I was still living in Cleveland
and using Verizon... they have good coverage because the
Verizon/AirTouch/CellularONE Cleveland network had been around for a good
ten to fifteen years at that point and was built out. In my experience,
however, Ashtabula County coverage was not wonderful. I had to force my
phone to roam on Sprint in the suburbs outside Ashtabula (back when that was
allowed), and coverage around Route 11 was, shall we say, somewhat lacking.

So my first inclination is to say that Andover probably WON'T be covered
well by Verizon.

However, (a) I've never used a Verizon phone in Andover, and (b) they've
added quite a bit of coverage in the past couple years, so they might have
good coverage there now. If not, look into using Alltel or Sprint.

But really, you should find a few Verizon customers out there and ask them.
Andover's a small town and I'm guessing there won't be a lot of people on
this newsgroup from there (if there are any at all).

Hi Steve,
Thank you for the info, I appreciate it. I used to work for
Verizon,(Bell Atlantic Mobile), in the old days.
I have a friend who's staying in Andover and may be there up to a year, and
as I said Nextel does not work where he is staying, however when I went a
mile up the road, it worked Ok.
I'll have to do more research and see what I can find out.

Thanks again,

Lou
