| Is it possible to get the GPS feature on the V710
to read out, i.e., lat, long. etc.? Thanks

No. do a search on aGPS or Assisted GPS to learn why.

I do not know if it works on the V710 or how to set it up.
I have a LG VX4400 and the following works most places that are VZW native.
There are instances where when you call 922 and get the 911 operator.
GPS COORINATES FOR LG VX4400 CELL PHONE
Make sure the phone is set to use the GPS function, not just E911 function.
Go To Menu
Settings [8]
Change Location [8] to Location On
Press end to clear out back to the start screen
Go To Menu -> 0
Service Code -> 000000
Go To Field Tests [2]
Go To gpsOne [6]
Change gpsOne Test Screen [2] to on.
Change Test Num [4] to 922
Go To Setting [4]
Modify the settings by changing:
transport type [3] to DBM
lock status [4] to off
test mode [5] to off
sample count [6] to 1
Press end to clear out back to the start screen
Press 922 then SEND. Some gibberish will start coming out of the phone.
Stay on the line and the Longitude and Latitude coordinates will show on the
screen.

Thanks guys. The 710 doesn't seem to
have similar functions although it does
have GPS functions in the field-test mode.
But, I'll try to adapt the info to the 710..
Thanks

aGPS phones cannot compute their coordinates by themselves (that's the
"assisted" part of aGPS. But there is a mechanism for the phone to have
the coordinates computed by the system sent to it, and that is what the
LG phones are apparently doing. When Location Based Services (such as
mapping applications) are made available (in December 2005?), then other
phones will also be able to do that.
