Has anyone else received their latest bill with new fees tacked on?

Thanks for pointing this out!

Looking at my Oct 19 bill, I see that I'm paying for each of my three
phones 0.05 for "Regulatory Charge" and 0.40 for "Administrative
Charge".

I wonder what I'm getting in return for these charges since, as far as
I can tell, my phone service hasn't changed one lick in over a year.

I believe there was a notice in last month's bill that this would be
starting this month.

Worst thing is that the .40 is counted as part of the total on which the
taxes are calculated.

The place to complain about this is Congress. They are the ones that
apply all of those types of taxes hoping no one will complain because
individually it is a small amount but collectively is a large sum of money.

A friend of mine is a regional Senior VP with them. He told me they've begun
tacking nuisance fees onto the bills of people they don't like. Examples are
guys who rag them mercilessly in newsgroups or are in other ways a general
PIA.

That would appear to include a high percentage of those who post here ;-)

While you're dialing up Congress you might as well put your city,
county and state on your speed dial list. They also believe that your
telephone bill is a convenient gravy train as well.

Me, I yell at my left shoe. It listens better and gets more results.

From my last bill:

" It also includes an Administrative Charge, which helps defray certain
costs we incur, currently including (i) charges we, or our agents, pay local
telephone companies for delivering long distance calls from our customers to
their customers, (ii) fees and assessments on network facilities and
services, and (iii) certain costs and charges associated with proceedings
related to new cell site construction. Please note that these are Verizon
Wireless Charges, not taxes that we are required to collect from you. "

So this money goes directly to Verizon and the tax on the .40 goes to the
state/feds.

Not a bad deal, I don't know how many billable lines Verizon has but, if
they have 50 million lines this results in 20 million dollars of renenue
each month. Not bad ....

The added $0.40 isn't a tax, it's an "administrative fee" to help
Verizon cover "certain costs" they incur as a normal part of their business.

If this flies, expect to see an additional $1.32 to pay Verizon's
electricity bill, an additional $0.87 to cover maintenance costs on
their vehicles, an additional $0.14 to cover the company Christmas
party... clearly they intend to carry these nickel-and-dime fees as far
as they possibly can.
