SSN is not needed to obtain or check credit, I've got 2 credit cards, a
cellphone, and all my utilities without providing the damn number.
Best bet would be to try some social engineering or go through the
website and enter all zeros, 123-45-6789 or something like that,
unfortunately some of the automated stuff won't let you sign up w/
bogus stuff or will require a deposit, but I haven't had very many
problems, try to get a hold of verizon's credit department and get it
done 'manually' they'll prolly require you to fax photo ID or
something.
