Author New Trimode Phone - Suggestions?

Our new-every-two aniversary has come up, so we're looking for new
tri-mode phones (we venture to some ridiculously remote places where
only analog is available, and we we want that for emergencies). The
phone should be durable and have decent bettery life. Plusses (but not
necessary) would be Bluetooth, camera phone, MP3 player.

Any suggestions for phones you've had good experiences with?

Thanks!

Moto v710.

I have had good luck with the Motorola V710. However, a heavy
analog user might consider finding an older analog phone and set
it up in the My Account section of VZW site when traveling to sites
which have only analog. The analog section of the V710 is OK, except
that in my opinion, being mainly intended for digital use, uses up the
battery when doing a lot of talking, and gets hot to handle. But, the
V710 is OK and the Bluetooth works OK on #777 and probably on
the wireless headset, but is not a full Bluetooth. No MP3 AFAIK. Good
luck..

http://www.nuclearelephant.com/papers/v710.html says it has a true
stereo MP3 player.

The motorola v325 is supposed to be available online tomorrow, and in
stores sometime next week perhaps. Advance word puts its reception on
par with other recent tri-mode Motorolas (v276, v710), which is
pretty darn good.

What's the best way to get a V710 these days? The local Verizon stores
say they are unavailable...

E815 is supposed to be much better but may not have tri-mode

E815 is digital-only. I'd recommend (though I have not used it, I'd
still go for it) is the v276. With camera and reportedly great reception,
no bluetooth.

Next might be the v260 (directly from Motorola's web site but for
Verizon). Same as the v276, but without a camera.

And there's the brandy-new, still online-only v325, which is essentially
a v276 with a bigger screen. Early reports put its reception on par
with the v710/v276.

In comparing the v325 with the v276 on Verizon website, it indicates that
the v325 does NOT have National Access and the v276 HAS National access.
How would that difference affect the casual user, who would occasionally
like to use the phone to connect to the internet with a laptop computer?
Thanks,
John

I thought V260 is a V265 sans camera

A lot! It means you cannot connect to the Internet via the phone with
the V325.
