| I'm eligible for a new every 2 phone from Verizon. Right now I have
a Samsung A310 that I have been pretty happy with, except I've
cracked the outside display and the sound quality has gotten worse.
I'm considering upgrading. First and formost, I want a phone that
is a good phone - I don't really care all that much about camera, etc.
It has to be a clamshell and have an 2nd display outside. I'd also like
a smaller phone.
The A570 looks to be a good choice, but from what I understand, its
only available at Radio Shack - I can't use my $100 toward a phone
there, can I? I'm pretty sure the answer is no, but thought I'd ask.
So if the answer to that is no, then I'm stuck with the ones Verizon
offers. I've excluded the Samsung 850 - while I like the one Samsung
I have, this one appears to have gotten some pretty bad reviews.
Anyone happy with it, I'd like to hear from.
I'm considering the LG 6100 and 8100, Motorola E815 and the Razr.
The 6100 would be the cheapest option, costing me around $20 when
all is said and done and appears to be a good phone. The 8100 and
the E815 have the only real extra I'd use, the MP3 player - they'd go
for around $50. While I like the idea that the Razr is thin, its not
really all that small, has no MP3 player and is the most expensive
option.
Again, I really want a good phone and if the 6100 fits that, but I'd like
to hear some comparisons on just that. If there's a difference with the
MP3 players on the 8100 and E815 I'd like to hear that comparison as
well. Also the 8100 and the E815 have bluetooth, which I could see
myself using sometime - but if they're not as good of a phone as the
6100, I can live without it.
TIA
Will

In terms of a phone for talking, the 6100 is the best of what you
mentioned because it's the only tri-band phone on your list.
You might look at the Motorola V325 as well.

| Did you ask Rat Shack? They will almost do what it takes to get you into a
phone. Go In there and say your not a customer. Point out the price of the
phone you want from verizon. If they say yes, Cancel your account with
verizon, Then go back to Rat Shack and buy it. Of course you wont be able to
get your same phone number.

| I use the e815 mp3 all the time .
with the motorola stero headset i can't believe the sound quality.
I've already went up to a 512mb card and wish i could get 1gb card.
I dont know about the 8100 but i can't imagine a better sound than the
815

The EQ settings on the 8100 are also nice.

| When I bought my T730 back in Jan. 04 I was eligible for New Every 2.
Verizon wouldn't honor it for phones bought at Radio Shack but the guy
wanted to make the sale so bad, he sold me the phone for $100 less. Not
sure if they'll do the same thing now, but I'd give it a shot. I'm waiting
for two months to get the Razr at a lower price than $100 right now.
