| any comments on the samsung a970 as compared to the E815?
looks like the razr is eliminated from my list of cellphones to check
out....
so, its E815, but I'd like to take a look at the samsung a970 and this
other comparable LG phone.
I'd like to be able to look at the v710, but the store in the new
orleans area doesn't carry them nor is it on the VZW website.

You might be able to find a 710 at an independent retailer. Maybe even
a local Radio Shack.
Not having had either phone I would still recommend the 815. I do have
a 710 and it works in places my LG 6000 does not. The 815 has a solid
reputation for reception and reliability from posters here and on the
Howard Forums. Unless it is firmly proven otherwise I would not get a
Verizon phone that did not have an external extendable antenna.
