Author Verizon- towers in Michigan's Thumb??

Hey,

Does anyone know if Verizon has been putting up their own towers in Michigan's Thumb area, specifically Caro? Previously
we would use Thumb Cellular towers on VZW AC plans with no problem. But, we recently saw a new cell tower go up near the
tuscola county fair grounds, and also about the same time we started being able to dial *VM to get our voice mail
instead of dialing the full cell #. The odd thing though is that I still can't get *228 to work -- it just takes you to
a Thumb Cellular message saying that the call can't be completed as dialed. We always used to have to go outside the
Thumb for PRL updates, but it seems odd that we would see the new towers coincidentally when *VM starts working, yet we
can't get Verizon on *228.

This might be the reason. In our travels we've found that some of the
partners will send you directly to VZW. I was told that they recognize
some ID in the phone. When we were in Columbia, MO I dialled *611 and
got the "Welcome to Verizon" but I was not on a VZW tower. That could be
why you are getting through on the *86 and not the *228.
