Only time Verizon will ask you to upgrade your plan when you get a phone
with a discount is when you are on a plan prior to Verizon Wireless
becuase you are not enrolled in New For Every 2.
Someday people who are on the Americas Choice 1 will not be able to
change there minutes soon. Like people who were on the original
Americas Choice plan from GTE were not allowed to change minutes when
they became VZW customers. They had to get a new National Single Rate
plan.

This depended on what market you are in. Most in markets in Verizon
West was in 2002. It was not in all markets nationwide until 2003.
Verizon East I think it was 2000-2001. Since I did buy free night and
weekend with VZW in Iowa I don't remember when it changed to 9 pm
