Can anyone tell me how a digital only phone performs in the following
areas? I have an Audiovox 9900 which just happens to be about half
the quality of a 9500 (My thoughts).

The phone in question would be the VX-7000

Area #1: Mohican State Park

Area#2: The outskirts of Marietta, oh

Area#3: Steve's old down in NEO by 2 around Geneva on the lake

Area#4: Keweenaw Bay / Skanee Township / Baraga County and surrounding
areas in Michigan. Well for that fact about the whole UP and upper
half of the LP?

Area#5: The areas before and after Zanesville, oh?

Area#6: Dawes Arboretum

Some of these areas I haven't visited in a while but remember having a
hell of a time with a tri-mode

Thanks,
Dan

However, not all of Verizon's network *uses* Verizon's towers.

*cough* like the Michigan UP and upper half of the LP *cough* Alltel *cough*

Must be something in my throat!

Unfortunately I can't add any useful information to the post. Last I
traveled up to the UP was a few years ago, at the time they were just
lighting up digital coverage in Mackinac City. According to their maps
and people I've talked to, digital is much better up north now. I have a
friend in Marquette who's on Alltel and I can text back and forth with
them pretty much anywhere they are there...and since SMS relies on
digital coverage to work, (that assuming Alltel didn't do a D-AMPS
hybrid control channel overlay in the UP, which I kinda doubt they'd
waste their time doing) I would assume digital's decent.

I have friends up at MTU in Houghton, MI and their Verizon handsets work
fine up around Houghton too. Of course, YMMV.

If I find more information I'll post when I find it, and I'll ask them
how their phones worked on their trips back down south.

Alltel is not verizon. verizon's network is where verizon has antenna
sites. verizon's network is about 99+ % digital. If you are roaming
(on alltel and others), then there is a greater chance of being analog.

While essentially all of VZW's own sites have digital, most of the ones
on the cellular band also have analog, which you can occasionally fall
back to (if your phone supports it), like at the fringes of the coverage
area.
